A native of Louisiana, Laura McDonald moved to NYC as a musician and songwriter and started a family. After the birth of her third child (and gaining over 70 lbs with each pregnancy) she joined a local gym, lost the weight and fell in love with the excitement and energy of group and personal training. She became ACE and AAFA certified and has done training in kick-boxing, yoga-fit, mat Pilates, and is currently a student at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

Laura went on to create a customized boot-camp class in NYC, “Box-Fit” and was featured on NBC with Hoda Kotb. Laura contributed numerous segments to NBC’s web based series on MSNBC. She worked directly with New York City Policewomen after 9/11 creating a six-month “Healthier Living” challenge.
Currently Laura is a contributor to the popular web-site MindBodyGreen.com, working with private clients, training online and teaching her custom classes in NYC. She recently completed a “sizzle” reel for a new fitness/reality show developed for low-income families. She has published 2 e-booklets and is working on a Southern inspired healthy cookbook. Laura enjoys engaging audiences as a health advisor through social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest,YouTube and her blog, lauramcdonaldhealth.com.
Her mission is to help empower busy people and guide them on a journey towards a more balanced life. From London to Louisiana, from Italy to India, women and men reach out to Laura for inspiration, motivation and advice.
